JOYCE GORSHE PLEMEL and FLORENCE UNETICH – Cleveland, Ohio |
|||
This conversation is about growing up in the Slovenian community in Cleveland in the 1920s, the founding of the Progressive Slovenian Women of America in 1934 (the organization ceased to exist in 2004), and the controversial reactions to Louis Adamic's book The Native's Return. Engaged in this conversation are Joyce Gorshe Plemel, Florence Unetich – a long-standing president of the Progressive Slovenian Women of America – and Mirjam Milharčič Hladnik. The conversation was recorded at Ms Joyce G. Plemel’s home in 2002. Recorded and prepared for this publication by Mirjam Milharčič Hladnik, PhD Photos by Mirjam Milharčič Hladnik and Joe Valenčič |
